KTM Duke 200.Ready 2 Race.( 1,32,000 Rs )
Now that the KTM Duke 200 has been launched in India, and at a killer
price to boot, Bajaj Auto, through Austrian motorcycle firm KTM, has
upped the ante in the Indian performance motorcycle market. The pricing,
although introductory at INR 1,17,500 ex-showroom Delhi is the biggest
thing that the Duke 200 has got going for it. With a better than
expected pricing, Bajaj Auto has done it again, by paying the value
card, that the firm has often used in the past to pummel competition
into submission. It is of small wonder then that Bajaj Auto leads the
premium sports motorcycle segment in the market.
The biggest shivers that the KTM Duke 200 will induce is on the Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 and the Honda CBR250R.

The biggest shivers that the KTM Duke 200 will induce is on the Yamaha
R15 Version 2.0 and the Honda CBR250R. Though both these motorcycles are
like chalk and cheese from the KTM Duke 200, due to their completely
different capabilities and positioning, the KTM Duke 200′s pricing, bang
in the middle of these two motorcycles, and the Duke 200′s higher power
to weight has made comparisons inevitable. The Yamaha R15 Version 2.0
has a power to weight ratio of 130 Bhp per ton while that on the Honda
CBR250R is 155 Bhp
On the KTM Duke 200, this figure is a whopping 184 Bhp per ton, besting
both the R15 and CBR quite comprehensively. The KTM Duke 200 also brings a
higher level of equipment like upside down front forks and an
underbelly exhaust, both features that will give bigger bragging rights
to its owners. The Duke 200 will be sold in 32 Bajaj ProBiking across
the nation in 30 cities and even in Kathmandu, Nepal. The showrooms will
be done up in KTM orange to highlight the arrival of KTM’s first model
in the Indian market. Unofficial bookings are currently open although
the bookings will officially will begin on 1st February with deliveries
scheduled for the middle of February. You can get the technical
specifications of the Duke 200.

Kiirus Autosports
A few days ago, Team ICB was the first automotive publication to run a story about Mumbai based Kiirus Autosports run by Abhishek Mukherjee coming up with an ECU remap for the recently launched KTM Duke 200. Due to the overwhelming response that Kiirus Autosport has received for their remap solutions, Abhishek Mukherjee and team will tour multiple cities of India conducting remap workshops.
The first city on the agenda is Pune, where Kiirus will be on the 23rd
of March, 2012, and apart from the KTM Duke 200, the tuning firm will
tune a range of ECUs, including high end luxury cars. Notably, this ECU
remap workshop is a single day event and hence, you need to take prior
appointments to get your vehicle’s ECU remapped as entries could be
limited. On 26th of March 2012, Kiirus will be at Bangalore.
Abhishek Mukherjee, the owner of Kiirus AutoSports can be contacted on +91-9594060920 or through email: info(at)kiirus(dot)in.
Kiirus has a range of remapping services
to suit most Indian cars, from the humble Ford Figos to the sporty and
luxurious Jaguars. The remaps that Kiirus delivers are not only said to
increase power and torque but are also said to improve fuel economy by 5
to 10%. Coming back to the KTM Duke 200, for which Kiirus has been the
world’s first tuning firm to come up with a remap option, the remap
will raise the rev limiter of the motorcycle by 1,200 rpm to 11,700 rpm.
This 1,200 rpm over rev will result in the Duke 200 managing a speedo indicated speed of about 148 Kph, even as the rorty character of the KTM Duke 200 will be retained, along with the motorcycle comfortably hitting the rev limiter in each gear without running out of steam. Kiirus also claims improved power and torque across the rev range along with a slight increase in overall fuel economy to the tune of 5-10%.

Grip set
The KTM 2K (2K= 2 different materials) grip combines the durability of
conventional KTM standard grips and the ride comfort of the softer KTM
grips. The harder orange material is used on the inside and on the ends
of the grips; the softer black material is used on the outside where the
hand is in contact with the grip.
X2 headlight
Adding HID lighting to your KTM has never been easier. We have removed
the guesswork for simple plug and play operation. This light includes a
2" spot light for distance and a 4" driving lamp for great peripheral
visibility. Non-EFI bikes may also need to install a 55139904000 or
78039904000 stator kit. Not DOT approved, off road use only. A great
solution for back country riding or 24 hour races. Orange headlight mask
decal 7800890700004 is available.
MX handguards
Thanks to splitting of the surfaces, the new handguards provide a
lightweight and uncompromising race look in the latest design. They
protect your most important "controls" - your hands - even in the most
critical situations. Two-component injection moulding technology is
employed here for the first time. The black centre section offers
maximum strength for optimum protection. The white or orange upper and
lower parts are highly flexible and endure even the roughest of
treatment without complaint.
